Pink Jeep Tours Guides

Guide training at Pink Jeep Tours Sedona is highly selective and rigorous. And that’s just the driving part. You can be confident that your guide is more than capable of handling your vehicle under any conditions. And you can be assured that all of our guides are certified in CPR and First Aid.

Training doesn’t stop there. Most Pink Jeep Tour guides are certified as Interpretive Guides (CIG). The National Association for Interpretation (NAI) offers a credential for tour guides after successfully completing their intensive 32-hour course. Through the prestigious CIG certification process our guides deepen their commitment as stewards of the land and excellent storytellers!

Brimming with facts and discoveries about the history, geology, fauna and flora, your guide will bring to life—through stories and interpretation, this magnificent natural wilderness area.

Investing in the continuing education of our tour guides is a company ethic. We want you to have the best tour experience possible. If what you hear and see on the Broken Arrow Tour inspires you and you come away with a renewed appreciation for raw nature, then we have done our job!

Let’s not forget that your guides are also fun! They love people and can’t wait to tell you what they know. Questions are always encouraged! They all have a passion for nature and an unending curiosity for life… and it shows. Check out some of our guide reviews.

How long have you been a Pink Jeep Tours Guide? 5 Years.

Previous Residence and Occupation: I was an aircraft mechanic for NASA in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Your Pink Jeep Tours Story: After my two sons joined the military, I retired from a 23 year career in the Air Force. My wife Julie and I cashed in our 401(k) early, sold our home in Portsmouth and moved to Sedona to enjoy retirement. My mom had great memories of a Pink Jeep tour and told me I should look into it. I became a Pink Jeep Tours guide because I love being around people. This is the perfect retirement job.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: Diamondback Gulch, I like to go out there on my days off.

Most memorable Pink Jeep Tours experience: Taking my mom and dad on the Broken Arrow Tour. They got to do it 20 years ago and this time the got to do it with their favorite son!

On a personal note: My son Brad is a lieutenant in the Marine Corps and my other son Bryan is a senior airman in the U.S. Air Force. Julie and I have been married for 28 years and are volunteers for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Your Pink Jeep Tours Story: I picked Sedona after being overwhelmed by concrete. I originally came from a life of hiking, four-wheeling, fishing, and mountaineering in Arizona. I’d done volunteer guiding and liked it a lot, but you can make a living doing it in Sedona.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: Give me six folks who are really interested in human history and the Ancient Ruins ( Honanki ) Tour is my favorite. But really, the right tour with the right people is the best.

Most Memorable Pink Jeep Tours Experience: Doing a trip with a terminal cancer patient who told me this was her “life trip,” the had-to-do-before-she-died experience.

Favorite Fact: The worm in a bottle of mescal is actually the moth that pollinates the broad-leaf or banana yucca.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: Chicken Point and Honanki at sunset. The feeling is indescribable.

Most Memorable Pink Jeep Tours Experience A few years ago, I took a couple on the Ancient Ruins Tour. The woman turned out to be the nurse who delivered me into this world in Waukegan, Illinois!

Previous Residence and Occupation: I was a musician and guitar teacher in Amesbury, Massachusetts.

Your Pink Jeep Tours Story: Before we married, my wife – a gifted artist – and I visited Arizona often. We’d seen a lot of the state and loved it, but we hadn’t ever been to Sedona. Our friends told us we had to see it, so we finally came. The views and city were amazing. We ended up getting married in Sedona 11 years ago, and then decided to make the move seven years ago.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: The Broken Arrow Tour, specifically Submarine Rock, early in the morning or at sunset. It’s a great four-wheel-drive ride with amazing views.

Most Memorable Pink Jeep Tours Experience: Several times I have been out on a tour at sunset with a couple and, as the sun is going down, the gentleman proposes to the lady. It’s very romantic and inspiring.

How long have you been a Pink Jeep Tours Guide? 8 years.

Previous Residence and Occupation: I was an electronics manufacturing manager in Mesa. I’m an Arizona native.

Your Pink Jeep Tours Story: I love the outdoors and enjoy sharing it with visitors. I wanted to have fun at work and get out of the big city life. I have a lot of childhood memories with my family at Oak Creek and have always loved Sedona. Being a guide here made sense. I rewrote my resume to emphasize my outdoor experience. I did my research and decided it was going to be Pink Jeep Tours or nothing.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: Mystic Vista, it’s an awesome panorama.

Most Memorable Pink Jeep Tours Experience: I had a great experience with a family from Boston who had never been to Arizona. They laughed at all my jokes and appreciated my experience.

Pink-Jeep-Guide---Andrea-Goldberg

How long have you been a Pink Jeep Tours Guide? 10 years.

Previous Residence and Occupation: I was a sales manager from Florida before coming here. I’m originally from Argentina.

Your Pink Jeep Tours Story: My husband traveled from California to Florida with his band and found Sedona in between. We came here and stayed about a year, went back to Florida for a while, then moved here in 2000. I volunteered for the Forest Service for a while but needed an income. Other volunteers suggested Pink Jeep Tours. It was a perfect fit.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: There’s so much to learn on the Ancient Ruins Tour, but the Broken Arrow Tour is so much fun.

Most Memorable Pink Jeep Tours Experience A 6-year-old boy who had traveled with his parents all over the world and had done every amusement park, told me, “This is the best day of my life.” He was really excited.

On a personal note: I’ve used everything I learned with the Forest Service working at Pink Jeep Tours and I learn more each year.

Pink-Jeep-Guide---Jim-Short

Name: Jim Short

How long have you been a Pink Jeep Tours Guide? 5 years

Previous Residence and Occupation: I lived in Cottonwood for 35 years and worked as a high school English teacher.

Your Pink Jeep Tours Story: I retired from teaching in 2002. I’d been retired for six years, but after my wife retired, she decided that I needed something to do. I’m a homebody, but wanted to do something outside of my comfort zone. I had no four-wheel-drive experience, but wanted to work outdoors with people. Pink Jeep Tours fills both of these needs wonderfully. I’m still teaching; I just have a rolling podium now. It’s a really, really good fit.

Favorite Pink Jeep Tours Location: Ancient Ruins (Honanki) Tour.

Most Memorable Pink Jeep Tours Experience: So far, almost every experience is memorable. Probably because of the teaching background, my favorite tours are those with children. Taking kids to the ruins is most rewarding.

On a personal note: I had a hip replaced in June 2007, but have still managed to bicycle the Tour de Tucson four times in the last five years.
